Mr Fuzuyise Golden Malinga (Former National Secretary General of NAFCOC.) 08 May 2024 10:56 PM

I was attracted to NAFCOC at a young age when Dr Sam Motsoenyane was working closely with the late Mr P. G. Gumede from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. He was the President of Inyanda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KwaZulu-Natal wing of Nafcoc during times of homeland governments). They both promoted the establishment of African Bank. The late Mr P. G. Gumede was always on Radio Zulu (now UKhozi FM) encouraging KwaZulu-Natal masses to buy shares in order to raise R1million capital to establish the African Bank. Late P. G. Gumede coined a slogan which was very popular, "AKUPHI.... AMADODA...?" Loosely translated "MEN/WOMEN WHO HAVE CASH SHOW UP AND BUY SHARES FOR YOUR OWN BLACK BANK!" It was a big challenge but they overcame and succeeded. At the time, I was a banker at Standard Bank. So, it was encouraging to see our own black Africans establishing their own bank. I was encouraged to leave the bank and join business. I joined Inyanda Chamber of Commerce which later became Nafcoc KZN. I later ended up being the provincial President and ultimately became the National Secretary General of NAFCOC. We've lost a great son of the soil, an exemplary gentleman, a great thinker and visionary. I convey my deepest sympathy and condolences to the Motsoenyane family for this great loss. As NAFCOC members we dare not disappoint and disrupt his legacy. We have to unite NAFCOC and ensure that African Bank excels in the financial sector for many generations to come. The ball is firmly in the court of NAFCOC members! Lala ngoxolo Tata, you have ran the race and fought the good fight! Lala uphumule ngoxolo.

Indeed, a giant has fallen in grace and honour. He has left behind erasable footprints for those who will dare to follow the path he treaded to the realisation of the African dream -the emancipation of the colonised mind. We send our dear condolences to the family.
